Here’s a good cold-weather breakfast menu under 400 calories. If you’ve never tried rhubarb sauce on top of oatmeal and you like rhubarb sauce, you’re in for a treat. It’s delicious! (try the Evelyn’s Rhubarb Sauce recipe).

Oatmeal with Rhubarb Sauce Recipe

Ingredients Calories
1 c. cooked Quaker’s Quick Oatmeal 146
1 Tbsp. REAL butter 100
1 Tbsp. raw Turbinado sugar 45
1/4 c. Evelyn’s Rhubarb Sauce 64
4-oz glass of skim milk 45
Total calories: 400

Homemade apple sauce is good on oatmeal, too. You can use other fresh fruit, frozen or canned fruit. I’m fond of using Dole’s All Natural Yellow Cling Sliced Peaches in light syrup. A half-cup of the fruit is 80 calories. I chop the peaches into smaller chunks and sprinkle them over the oatmeal. I use the Dole fruit in the clear plastic 1-1/2 pint containers with the screw-on lid. I like this type of packaging because I can see what the product inside looks like before I buy it.
