I’m not a food scientist or a nutrition expert. I’m not a doctor who can advise you about medical issues related to dieting. What I can offer you is a diet that works. What I can share is the knowledge I’ve gained doing research reading about dieting and nutrition.
I designed The Do It Yourself Diet for myself but so many people have asked me about it that I decided perhaps other people could shed unwanted weight using my methods. It is working for me. I’m on my way down to my goal weight of 165 pounds. Though I’ve made excellent progress thus far, I still have a lot of weight to lose. You’re welcome to join me on this journey.
I grew up in a rural home in Northeastern Minnesota. I have a degree in Art and Home Economics. I’ve had a lifelong interest in setting a nice table and cooking nice meals for family and friends. The other diets I’ve tried have failed for many reasons. Some were too restrictive. Some expected me to eat strange and unfamiliar foods. Some were just plain fad diets.
I’ve tried all kinds of diets through the years. In college I once dieted by eating only an apple and a Coca-Cola each day. I only wanted to lose 7 pounds. Within a few days I couldn’t keep real food down. It was crazy!
After graduating from college I became an Air Force officer, then a civilian employee of the Army, a PR and land person for an iron ore mining company, the owner of a custom picture framing business, an office worker at a Veteran’s Hospital research department, and finally a human resource assistant for the Dept of Homeland Security where I processed applications for law enforcement officers. Then I retired. In between these jobs I also held other short-term jobs. It’s pretty evident that I didn’t have a career plan. My only goal was to travel around the world and I certainly did.
My weight wasn’t a major issue until 1994 when I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at 51 years of age. I was in such intense pain I was unable to work a full-time job. At home alone all day I gained 80 pounds and didn’t stop there. Even when I was able to start working again part-time, I gained more weight.
In the years that followed I made some attempts to lose weight by following a variety of diets (diets detailed in this website) but was never able to lose more than about 15 pounds, that is, until now. Until I developed The Do It Yourself Diet. It is working for me because it was designed by and for me. The method I used can work for you.
