Do you think there is a way of eating where you can eat the things you love and still lose weight?
Yes, there is a way. But it’s not a panacea. This diet takes hard work and determination and patience. It can get tedious and time-consuming. It can also make your spirits soar. There’s nothing like getting on the bathroom scale and discovering you’ve lost two pounds or three pounds. Suddenly you’re standing a little straighter, prouder, and paying more attention to the way you present yourself to the rest of the world.
On this diet you will lose weight gradually. On this diet no one outside of your immediate household needs to know you are on a diet. You don’t have to explain why you are eating what you are eating. You can eat out. You can do all of this because of the base of knowledge you gain as you develop your own diet.
The Do It Yourself Diet is a modified eating program that allows you to enjoy all the foods you love. The secret is:
- You develop your own diet that includes the foods you love.
- You learn to control portion sizes and weigh or measure everything.
- You become so used to eating in this modified way that it becomes a habit, hopefully one that will last a lifetime.
Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, in his book of inspirational quotes and observations, Staying on the Path, says that "Healthy habits are learned in the same way as unhealthy ones - through practice". As I continue to follow my modified eating program, I’m finding that quote to be true. Through practice I’m learning how to eat to reach the healthy weight goal that I have set for myself. I hope it will become a way of life for me that will last for the rest of my life. Dr. Dyer has written other books that inspire me such as Inspiration Your Ultimate Calling. He recommended the book by Esther and Jerry Hicks, Ask and It Is Given - Learning to Manifest Your Desires. I loved this book and others like it. The fact is, I love reference-type books and read them from cover-to-cover, save them, and savor them again over and over.
I have not reached my healthy weight goal. On the day I started writing this diet guide, I had lost 25 pounds in 2-1/2 months. I have now lost 30 pounds in three months - 10 pounds per month!!! That may not seem like much weight when my goal weight is 165 pounds and I’ve got many, many pounds to lose yet, but I’ve taken the first step and am on my way. Friends and acquaintances have asked me about the diet I’m following. Everyone, it seems, is interested in losing weight. That’s why I’m sharing this information with you. In this site, I’ll explain how I went about designing my own diet. I hope if you find this information valuable, that you, too, will design your own diet and get started on an eating program that will gradually move you toward your goal weight.
On my blog, I will keep you updated on my weight loss. I hope you will share your weight loss experiences with the other readers and me so that we will all gain from this new adventure in food.
Your friend,
Constance
